Islamabad:A farewell ceremony was held at Islamabad Model Postgraduate College, H-8/2, in honor of Prof. Tahir Mahmood, Head of the Department of Economics, and Prof. Abdul Rauf, Head of the Department of Mathematics, on the eve of their retirement. The event, attended by the faculty members was marked by warmth, respect, and admiration for the departing professors, says a press release.
Prof. Tahir Mahmood served the former FG colleges of Islamabad with distinction in various capacities. He also remained an office bearer and later President of the Federal Government College Teachers Association. During his tenure, teachers secured several service-related benefits, most notably the introduction of the Higher Time Scale formula, which ensured faster career progression for teaching cadres and other federal government employees in Islamabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Afzal Awan highlighted Prof. Tahir Mahmood’s invaluable contributions to the teaching community and praised his unwavering commitment. In his remarks, Prof. Tahir Mahmood thanked the college for arranging the ceremony and described teaching as his lifelong passion. Prof. Abdul Rauf also expressed gratitude to colleagues and the administration.
