Over 2,000 officials to maintain traffic

LAHORE:City Traffic Police Lahore has formulated a comprehensive and special traffic plan for Ramazan. CTO Dr Athar Waheed said traffic police will perform duties round the clock to ensure smooth movement during Sehri, Iftar, and Taraweeh. More than 2,000 traffic officers and wardens will perform duties during Ramazan.

Additional personnel will be deployed in the second shift and special squads will remain active. During the night shift, vehicles in all 45 traffic sectors will patrol the city. Special traffic duties will also be deployed at 23 Sahulat Bazaars, five markets, and 22 dastarkhwans set up by the Punjab government.

Special parking arrangements will be made in Ramazan bazaars and busy markets and wrong parking will not be tolerated. Over 200 wardens of the Traffic Response Unit, 34 fork-lifters, and five breakdown vehicles will remain on standby to take action against violators. Wardens will be provided Iftar at official expense, and SPs and DSPs will join them at duty points. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with traffic police.
