A promising young voice in literature has emerged as 13-year-old Syed Shamraiz Abbas formally launched his debut science-fiction (sci-fi) novel ‘A World Reborn’ at the historic Frere Hall Library on Sunday. The event marked a significant milestone for the young writer, signalling the beginning of his journey into fantasy and dystopian storytelling.

Set in a bleak, futuristic world, the novel centres on a ravaged Earth where powerful global forces compete for control of the Origon Core, a mysterious sphere believed to possess the ability to restore the planet. The story weaves together action, advanced warfare and emotional sacrifice while highlighting themes of survival, unity and hope.

A grade-9 student at Nixor College, the author has not only written the book but also illustrated and designed it himself, reflecting his deep interest in sci-fi, imaginative world-building and creative storytelling.

Driven by his love for fantasy narratives, he developed an entirely new fictional universe through his debut work. He views the novel as the first step in a long creative journey, expressing his ambition to continue expanding the world he has created through future stories for readers to explore and reflect upon.
