ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will take up next week six important cases related to Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

A three-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim will hear the cases on February 18.

One each case related to Bushra Bibi and Shah Mahmood Qureshi had also been scheduled for hearing. Similarly, an appeal has been scheduled for hearing against the Islamabad High Court’s decision in the Toshakhana criminal case, in which the High Court suspended the sentence rather than merely suspending the verdict.

Likewise, appeals filed by the Punjab government against the bails of the former prime minister and his spouse Bushra Bibi have also been fixed for hearing.

Similarly, the court will take up an appeal against the acquittal of Khan and Qureshi in the cipher case. Furthermore, in the May 9 Lahore cases, the government’s appeal against the bail of the PTI founder has been fixed for hearing.

The court will also take up appeal filed by Khan against PM Shehbaz Sharif in the defamation case.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Justice Yahya Afridi had directed on February 9 that a three-member bench be constituted to hear these cases.
