The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Karachi Zone has thwarted an attempted human smuggling plan exposing an illegal travel arrangement during immigration clearance at the airport.
According to officials, a passenger identified as Ayaz Khan was offloaded while attempting to depart for Thailand on a visit visa. During immigration clearance, he was referred to the second line for profiling.
During questioning, the passenger revealed that he had paid Rs300,000 to an agent, Bashir, a resident of Mardan who allegedly promised to arrange his employment abroad. The agent had reportedly devised a plan to send him to Malaysia through an illegal border route and had demanded an additional Rs700,000 for the arrangement. The passenger admitted that he intended to cross the border unlawfully. His statement was recorded on video as part of the investigation. Authorities offloaded him to prevent illegal migration and further legal action is expected against those involved in the smuggling network.
The FIA Karachi Zone said it carried out the operation under the supervision of Director Muntazir Mehdi.
