PESHAWAR: German Ambassador to Pakistan, Ms. Ina Lepel, on Friday met Chief Khateeb of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi, at his office at Jamia Ashrafia on Eidgah Road, Faqirabad, Peshawar.
The chief khateeb briefed the ambassador on the measures taken to maintain interfaith harmony in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He stated that the province serves as a strong example of religious tolerance and interfaith coexistence compared to other provinces, adding that minorities in the region enjoy full protection of their rights and religious freedom.
Maulana Qureshi told the German envoy that the KP government, particularly the Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department, is actively ensuring the protection of minority places of worship.
He mentioned that minority communities celebrate their religious festivals freely and that financial assistance is regularly provided to support them, describing these efforts as commendable.
The chief khateeb said that the people of KP and religious scholars stand shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in the fight against terrorism and paid tribute to their sacrifices.
He expressed gratitude to the German government for its cooperation with Pakistan across various sectors.
