MARDAN: Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Arshad Ayub Khan on Friday said that the introduction of the e-transfer policy had ensured merit-based and transparent transfers and postings.
He was addressing the 36th annual sports day and prize distribution ceremony at the Fazlehaq College, Mardan.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Elementary and Secondary Education Secretary Muhammad Khalid Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Mardan, Wasef Ur Rehman, district administration officials, parents and students attended the event.
The minister said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) education was being promoted across the province. “With the approval of the provincial cabinet, AI classes from Grade 6 to 12 are being introduced,” he added. He said that for this initiative, 7,000 teachers were being hired, and the programme would be formally launched across the province from March 1, 2026.
He said the world was rapidly moving toward digital transformation.
Arshad Ayub said that successful nations were advancing in digital literacy and modern knowledge.
“We must strengthen our education sector to enable our children to compete with developed countries,” he said.
He advised students to respect their parents and teachers, maintain discipline, uphold moral values, and learn to live with dignity and honour. The minister stated that such events reflected the performance and dedication of teachers and school management.
He remarked that Fazlehaq College held a prestigious position in the province, and the late Fazlehaq fulfilled his responsibility by establishing this institution.
“It is now our collective responsibility to strengthen it,”
Principal Hafsa Ashfaq highlighted the institution’s annual performance.
The chief guest inspected the guard of honour, received the salute from the marching contingents and appreciated the performances of the students.
The students presented PT shows, cultural dances (Hazara, Chitrali, and Khattak), gymnastics, fire ring performances, horse riding, tent pegging, and martial arts demonstrations, which were appreciated by the audience.
