The Sindh government has suspended the incharge of the Sindh University’s Dadu campus, Professor Azhar Shah, after his viral videos on social media that sparked allegations, including use of inappropriate language and disruption of academic activities.
The pro-chancellor of the university and minister for universities and boards department took cognizance of the matter and asked the vice-chancellor to suspend the professor and initiate a formal inquiry to ascertain facts and circumstances of the matter.
Addressing a letter to the VC, minister noted that it has been reported that certain videos involving Professor Azhar Shah have surfaced on social media which are alleged to have adversely affected the image and reputation of the university. He directed the vice chancellor to place the professor under suspension and initiate an inquiry.
The minister noted that the inquiry would be conducted strictly in accordance with the law ensuring that officer concerned is afforded a reasonable opportunity of being heard. He ordered that inquiry proceedings would be completed within 15 days and a detailed report along with findings and recommendations would be submitted to the pro-chancellor/minister. The letter asked the matter be placed before the syndicate for consideration and for taking necessary action in accordance with the law.
