LAHORE:In compliance with the orders of the Lahore High Court, PHA Lahore has decided to ensure strict enforcement of the existing ban on the cutting and pruning of trees across the city.

Managing Director PHA Lahore, Raja Mansoor Ahmad, has issued clear directives stating that no tree may be cut, damaged, or uprooted without proper authorisation. He emphasised that even minor trimming, pruning, or cutting of branches cannot be carried out without prior written approval from the competent authority, regardless of the purpose — including electricity line clearance, safety requirements, or beautification measures.

All Directors, Project Directors, and In-Charge Officers have been instructed to further strengthen monitoring mechanisms within their respective jurisdictions. They are also directed to immediately communicate these instructions to field staff, supervisors, and gardeners to ensure strict compliance at every operational level. The Managing Director underscored that the protection of urban greenery is vital for environmental improvement, reducing air pollution, and addressing the impacts of climate change.

He warned that any violation of these directives will result in strict action under the relevant laws. The government and PHA Lahore remain fully committed to preserving Lahore’s green cover and ensuring a clean, healthy, and environmentally sustainable city.
