Dumper kills two young men on Super Highway

Two young men riding a motorbike were killed after being hit by a speeding dumper near the Punjab bus stand, which is located near Al-Asif Square in Sohrab Goth, on Monday.

Rescue officials said the victims were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The deceased were identified as Kamran, 30, son of Ahmed Umar, and Amanullah, 20. Family members and friends reached the hospital after receiving information about the accident. According to them, Kamran worked at a restaurant and was a resident of PECHS, while Amanullah was associated with flower and flooring work, and belonged to rural Sindh.

Both victims were travelling on a motorbike after finishing work when they were reportedly crushed to death by the dumper. Police said the driver involved in the accident managed to escape from the scene, while the dumper has been impounded.

Officials said efforts are under way to arrest the driver. More than 100 people have lost their lives in various traffic accidents in Karachi already this year, including over 30 deaths linked to heavy vehicles.
