ISLAMABAD: Senior diplomat and Additional Foreign Secretary for Asia & Pacific Region Imran Ahmad Siddiqui has been appointed Pakistan’s Ambassador for Iran.
He will be replacing Muhammad Muddassar Tipu, who has already been assigned Tashkent where he will be the envoy for Uzbekistan. Both the envoys would move to their new postings soon after getting their consent of appointment from the host capitals.
Diplomatic sources told The News that the Foreign Office is set to have conspicuous shuffling at the headquarters in the next quarter. It is likely that five new additional foreign secretaries would be in place, as senior ambassadors/high commissioners are returning to the headquarters.
The search for a new foreign secretary will begin in the process of postings of the new additional foreign secretaries.
Meanwhile, Director General Human Resources and Career Planning Division Ali Ansar Zaidi is moving to Los Angeles as Consul General to replace Muhammad Asim Khan, who will be ambassador in Norway, the sources added.
