The District Korangi police on Saturday busted a three-member gang of robbers, including a woman, who were involved in multiple house robberies within the limits of three police stations in District Korangi.
Taking notice of the incidents, senior police officials constituted a special team headed by SDPO Landhi Faiza Sodhar. The team successfully arrested three suspects, including a woman, and recovered a large quantity of stolen gold and silver biscuits, diamond rings, and gold ornaments.
The police said the arrested gang had carried out house robberies within the jurisdictions of Zaman Town and Shah Faisal police stations over the past few days. A special police team comprising the SHOs of Zaman Town, Korangi, and Awami Colony was formed to apprehend the suspects.
According to police, on January 21, 2026, the accused broke into the house of Muhammad Hassan in Sector 51-B, Korangi No. 6, held the residents hostage, and fled with jewellery, cash, and household items. On January 27, the same gang entered the house of Muhammad Riaz in Korangi No 2, took the family hostage, looted gold jewellery and mobile phones, and escaped.
The police further stated that on June 26 last year, the same gang carried out a similar robbery at the residence of Sabeel Bin Yousuf in Shah Faisal Colony No 2, where they looted cash and mobile phones after holding the family hostage.
Briefing the media, SHO Korangi Muhammad Ali Niazi said the arrested suspects were identified as Abdullah Bengali, Fayyaz Abbas alias Babli, and Lubna, wife of Ilyas Rehman. Two TT pistols, along with gold ornaments, gold and silver biscuits, diamond rings, mobile phones, and other stolen items, were recovered from their possession.
He added that more than 20 mobile phones snatched during various robbery incidents were also recovered. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in several other house robberies in different areas of Karachi.
The police also revealed that another member of the gang, Ilyas, husband of the arrested woman, was arrested a few days earlier and sent to jail.
Items recovered from the suspects included 10 silver biscuits weighing 10 tola each, three gold biscuits weighing 3.60 tola, four diamond rings, eight gold rings, one gold earring, one gold jhumka, one gold chain, one gold bracelet, one diamond clove, eight gold bangles, three gold nose tops, one gold nose wire, one gold pendant, two silver rings, two silver bracelets, one broken gold chain, one gold button, one wristwatch, and one wallet.
The police said the accused are habitual criminals who had been arrested and jailed multiple times in the past. The arrested suspects had been handed over to the investigating authorities for further legal proceedings.
