ALPURI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central Deputy Secretary Information Shaukat Yousafzai said on Saturday claimed that on February 8, 2024, the public mandate was stolen by trampling the people’s votes and handing over power to a “fake government.”

He was addressing a meeting in connection with the planned shutter-down strike and rallies today (February 8).

He said the protest would prove a referendum against what he termed the “Form 47 government.”

He said that Imran Khan received the highest number of votes, but was unjustly imprisoned, while those who came to power through rigging were ruling the country.

Yousafzai further claimed that PTI candidates were deliberately allotted different election symbols in various parts of the country in an attempt to confuse voters, but the tactic failed as the people still cast their votes in favour of Imran Khan.

The meeting was attended by Senior Vice President Malakand Division and Tehsil Chairman Bisham Sadeedur Rehman, Tehsil Chairman Alpuri Waqar Ahmad Khan, Tehsil Chairman Puran Abdul Maula Khan, former PK-30 candidate Advocate Sadarur Rehman, District Zakat Chairman Zaidullah Khan, along with other party leaders and workers.

During the meeting, PTI Shangla, through mutual consultation, announced a shutter-down strike and rallies on February 8 to demonstrate that the nation did not accept oppression and imposed election results, and stood for real representation and justice.

It was decided that party leaders would contact traders. Two district-level rallies will be organised in Shangla on the day. Party workers from Tehsil Alpuri, Bisham, Chakisar and Tehsil Kana will gather in the form of rallies at Karora Chowk, a major commercial centre, at 11am, where a foot march and walk will be held before concluding.
