LAHORE: Pakistan batter Usman Khan admired the national team for showing discipline and unity acquiring a comprehensive victory over Australia here on Saturday.

Pakistan sealed the three-match T20I series with a commanding 90-run victory over Australia in the second encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Following the triumph, middle-order batter Usman Khan addressed the media, portraying on his own performance and the collective effort that propelled Pakistan to an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Usman Khan played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s batting effort, scoring a well-paced 53 off 36 balls. His innings provided stability after early wickets and allowed captain Salman Ali Agha—who top-scored with a brilliant 76 off 40 balls—to settle into rhythm.

Salman himself acknowledged Usman’s contribution, noting that while he initially struggled to find fluency, Usman’s composure at the crease eased the pressure. Their partnership proved decisive, lifting Pakistan from a shaky start to a formidable total of 198/5.

Usman’s late acceleration was equally vital. He reached his half-century in the final over, striking a boundary off Xavier Bartlett, ensuring Pakistan set a daunting target of 199 for the visitors.

Reflecting on the match conditions, Usman observed that the pitch was more batting-friendly compared to the opening game of the series. While spinners continued to find assistance, the ball came onto the bat better, enabling more aggressive stroke play.

He emphasized that the team’s broader strategy is geared toward preparing for the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka and India, where spin-friendly conditions are expected to play a major role. Adapting to these surfaces, he said, is central to Pakistan’s preparations.

With the win, Pakistan clinched the series 2-0, a result Usman described as a product of unity and cohesion within the squad. He highlighted the blend of senior figures like Babar Azam alongside younger players, all working together to execute the management’s plans.

Usman also praised the bowling unit for their ruthless display. Spinners Saim Ayub (3-18), Shadab Khan, and Abrar Ahmed dismantled Australia’s chase, restricting them to just 108 all out in 15.4 overs.
