ISLAMABAD: The Event Technical Committee of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 has formally approved Abdul Qadir as a replacement for Mohammad Shayan in the Pakistan Under-19 squad, paving the way for the young cricketer’s inclusion in the marquee global event.
Shayan was unfortunately ruled out of the tournament after suffering a nasal bone fracture during a routine team training session, dealing a setback to Pakistan’s top-order. Following the injury, the Pakistan camp moved swiftly to submit a replacement request in line with ICC regulations.
As per tournament rules, any change to the official squad requires clearance from the Event Technical Committee before the incoming player can be registered. After due consideration, the committee granted its approval, officially clearing Abdul Qadir to join the Pakistan U19 setup for the World Cup.
The Event Technical Committee for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 comprises Wasim Khan (Chair and ICC General Manager – Cricket), Sarah Edgar (ICC Senior Manager – Events), Hamilton Masakadza (Zimbabwe Cricket Tournament Director).
