MINGORA: The traders here on Tuesday asked the government to take immediate steps to rehabilitate flood affected families and resolve the ongoing power crisis in Swat district.
The demand was made at a meeting on issues faced by flood-affected families and prolonged electricity load-shedding in Swat. The meeting was chaired by Swat Traders Federation president Abdul Rahim and was attended by vice-president Haji Hayat Ali, spokesperson Dr Khalid Mahmood Khalid, as well as presidents and general secretaries of various traders’ unions across Swat.
Addressing the meeting, Abdul Rahim said immediate steps were needed to rehabilitate families affected by floods and to resolve the ongoing power crisis. He warned that if funds allocated for flood victims were not released by February 15, the situation could worsen, adding that the traders’ community would not remain silent.
Representatives of different unions briefed the meeting on the problems being faced in their respective areas. These issues were documented in detail to be conveyed effectively to the authorities concerned.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Swat Traders Federation announced a protest demonstration on Thursday in front of the Wapda office against prolonged power outages. Abdul Rahim said the protest would serve as a strong voice against public hardships.He added that the traders stood united for the protection of public rights and would continue their struggle at all levels until the issues were resolved.
