ISLAMABAD: The government has awarded 1,244 people the Pakistan Civil Awards during the last three years (2022, 2023 and 2024) in recognition of their outstanding performance in various fields.
In a written reply to a question from Aliya Kamran, the Cabinet Division informed the House that during the last three years—2022, 2023, and 2024—1,244 people were awarded Pakistan Civil Awards in recognition of outstanding performance in various fields.
According to the information provided by the Cabinet Secretariat, out of 21 national honours, 16 civil awards qualify recipients for specific privileges, while holders of five awards are entitled to both privileges and monetary rewards.
The Cabinet Secretariat informed the House that recipients of the Nishan-e-Shujaat are entitled to Rs1.5 million during their lifetime, while Rs1.875 million is paid posthumously. Holders of the Hilal-e-Shujaat receive Rs1.25 million during their lifetime and Rs1.625 million after death. Recipients of the Sitara-e-Shujaat are awarded Rs1.125 million while they are alive and Rs1.375 million posthumously, whereas Tamgha-e-Shujaat holders receive Rs1.025 million during their lifetime and Rs1.175 million after death.
Recipients of the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance are entitled to a cash award of Rs1.25 million. The House was also informed that civil award recipients are entitled to use VIP lounges at airports and government guest houses. They are exempt from obtaining licences for pistols, Kalashnikov rifles, .22 bore weapons and double-barrel shotguns.
However, no privileges are attached to Tamgha-e-Pakistan, Tamgha-e-Shujaat, Tamgha-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Tamgha-e-Khidmat and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, the reply stated.
Regarding the distribution of civil awards, the Sindh government topped the list over the past three years by conferring 149 awards. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa awarded 114, Punjab 74 and Balochistan 37 civil honours.
Among federal institutions, the Ministry of National Heritage awarded civil honours to 132 individuals, followed by the Ministry of Information with 89, Ministry of the Interior with 85, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs with 82. The Prime Minister’s Secretariat also awarded civil honours to 67 individuals during the same period.
