Rangers, SIU arrest two alleged extortionists in Korangi raid

Rangers personnel in collaboration with the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Karachi conducted a joint operation based on information and arrested two suspects, Talha Haider and Farzeen Khan, involved in extortion, in District Korangi.

The suspects, along with their absconding accomplice, were making threatening calls to an officer of a private engineering company in Landhi and demanding Rs17 million in ransom.

To scare the victim, they threatened to kidnap his son and also sent a picture of a weapon on his mobile phone. A case has been registered against unknown persons at the Landhi police station. Afterwards, a joint team was formed and the team while using the technical apparatus arrested the two suspects.

Moreover, raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accomplice of those caught. Separately, Rangers troops conducted operations based on intelligence information and arrested nine suspects belonging to Kashif Dad Gang and Riyat Jadgal Gang. The suspects were identified as Arsalan alias Matho, son of Suleman, Liaquat Ali alias Commando, son of Ghulam Haider, Asher, son of Aslam, Aishan Safdar alias Shanu, son of Safdar Hussain, Rizwan alias Tendo, son of Karim Bakhsh, Muhammad Ahmed, son of Muhammad Yahya, Noman, son of Javed Iqbal, Nadeem, son of Muhammad Irshad and Sajjad, son of Ghulam Hussain, from Old Golimar, Pak Colony and Nazimabad areas of Karachi.

Four pistols with ammunition, 363 token crystals, 8.35kg hashish, 25 token ice, 48 liquor bottles, 150kg gutka, 1490 packets of mawa, 18 mobile phones and Rs 4,137,400 in cash were also recovered.

The arrested suspects are part of the organized Kashif Dada gang and the Jadgal gang, which are involved in several incidents of armed robbery, drug trafficking, motorcycle and mobile phone snatching in the areas of Old Golimar, Pak Colony and Nazimabad of Karachi.

The suspects are alleged to habitual criminals and FIRs have been registered against them in various police stations of the city.
