LAHORE : Police arrested three suspects from different areas of City here during a crackdown on illegal kite flying on Wednesday.
Harbanspura Police arrested an inter-district kite supplier. Police recovered 1,050 kites and two chemical-coated kite strings from the accused, identified as Haider. He confessed to supplying kite material from Peshawar to different districts of Punjab.
Garhi Shahu Police arrested a kite seller during a raid based on secret information. The accused, Ikhlaq Khan, was found in possession of 782 kites and four rolls of metallic string. He admitted to supplying kite materials ordered online from another district.
Meanwhile, Dolphin Squad foiled an attempt to supply illegal kites and arrested a suspect during asearch operation in Misri Shah.
According to a spokesperson, during checking in the Misri Shah area, the suspect was found carrying more than 100 kites concealed in LCD cartons.
The accused, identified as Hassan, was allegedly supplying kites online to different areas. He was handed over to Misri Shah Police. Police registered cases. SP Dolphin Akhtar Nawaz stated that kite selling is only allowed within the officially notified period, and strict action will be taken against violators.
Eight injured as van falls into drain
Eight people were injured when a rickshaw collided with a passenger van in Shahdara Town, causing the van to fall into a drain. According to Edhi officials, the accident occurred in Barkat Town. Rescue teams shifted the injured to hospitals.
Cash, valuables taken away
Several incidents of street crime were reported across the City where citizens were deprived of cash, mobile phones, motorcycles and vehicles. Reportedly, Rs240,000 were taken away in Gujjarpura, Rs215,000 in Sunder, Rs210,000 snatched in Factory Area, Rs185,000 in Bhatti and Rs170,000 were taken away in Muslim Town.
