Islamabad:The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will host the 10th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction from today (Wednesday) here at its headquarters.
Marking Pakistan’s first time hosting the forum, the two-day event will bring together ministers and senior officials from ECO member states and partner organizations to boost regional cooperation on disaster risk reduction and climate resilience, with a focus on innovation, technology, data sharing and early warning systems.
Delegations from Pakistan, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan are expected. The event will open with a High-Level Working Group session, followed by the ministerial meeting on January 22, where the draft Islamabad Declaration will be considered for endorsement.
The NDMA said hosting the 10th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction underscored Pakistan’s commitment to regional solidarity and its dedication to advancing coordinated, inclusive and forward-looking approaches to disaster risk reduction, while promoting innovation.
