HARIPUR: Inspector General Prisons, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rehan Gul Khattak inaugurated the modern control room and missing facilities related to security and overall management in central prison here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, he directed the jail administration to ensure the protection of the basic human rights of the prisoners at all costs and make the correctional and welfare activities more effective so that the prisoners complete their sentence.
The IG prisons said that in line with provincial government’s policy all available resources were being utilized to transform the prisons into real correctional centres and provide better facilities to the inmates so that they could return to the society as law abiding and more productive citizens.
He also listed the measures that the prison department was taking to achieve the objective of prisoners’ centric reforms in the province. The newly posted IG Prison also conducted a detailed visit to different sectors including jail industry, Drug Rehabilitation
Centre and kitchen of the Haripur jail where he reviewed the facilities, transparency, discipline and security arrangements and prisoners’ welfare related facilities.
