KARACHI: Pakistan’s men’s hockey team will play four challenging matches against world hockey giants Germany and Australia in February 2026 as part of the FIH Hockey Pro League. The matches will be played in Hobart, Australia.

This will be Pakistan’s second leg in the FIH Pro League. Earlier, the Green Shirts featured in the first leg against Argentina and the Netherlands, where they suffered defeats in all four matches.

Although Pakistan could not overcome the stronger teams in the first leg, the team showed encouraging signs, particularly in attack. The forwards and penalty corner drag-flick specialists managed to score goals, but weaknesses in defence and inconsistent goalkeeping proved costly and were the main reasons for the defeats.

The Pakistan hockey team is currently undergoing a training camp in Islamabad. Camp officials said the players are receiving intense and focused training, especially in areas where the team struggled during the first leg.

They added that grey areas identified during the matches in Argentina are being addressed by the coaching staff, with special drills being conducted for goalkeepers, defenders and forwards.

During the Australian leg of the Pro League, Pakistan will open their February campaign against Australia on February 10, followed by a match against Germany on February 11. The team will then face Australia again on February 13 before concluding the leg with another encounter against Germany on February 14. Both Australia and Germany are ranked well above Pakistan in the latest FIH rankings. Germany is currently placed third, Australia fifth, while Pakistan is ranked 14th.
