ISLAMABAD: In a major move aimed at modernising sports administration and reducing bureaucratic hurdles, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has initiated immediate administrative reforms designed to improve ease of doing sports governance and provide maximum facilitation to athletes and national sports federations across the country.

The reforms were launched on the very first day after Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Division Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani assumed the additional charge of Director General PSB, signalling a proactive approach towards restructuring sports-related procedures and improving institutional efficiency.

One of the key decisions taken by the new DG PSB was to simplify and significantly reduce the size of the affiliation proforma for National Sports Federations. According to officials, the revised format has been made concise, practical and user-friendly while ensuring transparency and compliance with governance requirements.

In another athlete-friendly initiative, the Pakistan Sports Board has also reviewed and streamlined the No Objection Certificate (NOC) proforma and related documentation requirements for athletes and sports federations travelling abroad for international competitions, training camps and sporting events.

Officials believe the latest reforms would help eliminate unnecessary delays, reduce excessive paperwork and improve coordination between federations and the PSB, enabling athletes to focus more on performance rather than administrative formalities.

Speaking about the reforms, Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani said the primary objective was to promote athlete-centered governance, improve efficiency and encourage greater participation of Pakistani athletes and federations in international sports activities.

He emphasised that the PSB would continue pursuing institutional reforms focused on transparency, digitisation, better service delivery and ease of access for all stakeholders associated with the country’s sports sector.

Sports observers see the measures as an encouraging step towards creating a more responsive and professional sports administration system capable of supporting athletes and federations in a modern sporting environment.
