As per the FIR, a man identified as Shehzad, a former employee of the company who was dismissed due to alleged misconduct, arrived at the factory on January 9 along with his accomplices, including Iqbal Abro, Sudheer, Ashfaq, and other unidentified individuals. The suspects allegedly threatened the factory management, warning that if millions of rupees in extortion money were not paid, as had allegedly been done in the past, they would set the factory on fire, kill everyone present, and prevent anyone from entering the premises.

The FIR further stated that the suspects had previously collected extortion amounting to millions of rupees from the factory. Following the registration of the case, an investigation was initiated and later transferred to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). Acting on a tip-off, the SIU police conducted an operation and arrested two nominated suspects, Ikhtiar Chandio and Iqbal Abro.
