ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has declared the so-called National Padel Championship scheduled to be held in Karachi unauthorized, warning that the use of Pakistan’s name for personal or commercial purposes constitutes a serious violation and may invite legal action under relevant laws.

In an official notification issued by Assistant Director NF-I Muhammad Waqar Ahmed, PSB clarified that no padel federation is affiliated, recognized, or registered with the Pakistan Sports Board, and therefore no individual or group has the legal authority to organize a national-level padel championship under Pakistan’s name.

The PSB stated that certain individuals, falsely styling themselves as the Pakistan Padel Federation, are organizing the event and misleading athletes by claiming that participation may lead to selection for the Asian Games 2026 in Japan. “These claims are completely false, unauthorized, and without any legal standing,” the PSB emphasized.

According to the notification, under the PSB Constitution 2022, only federations officially affiliated with PSB are recognized as National Sports Federations (NSFs) and are permitted to use Pakistan’s name, select national teams, or send athletes abroad. Non-recognized entities are strictly prohibited from using the country’s name for sporting representation.

The PSB further clarified that it has not issued any permission, recognition, endorsement, or nomination authority to any organization or individual for representing Pakistan in padel at any international forum, including the Asian Games, Asian Championships, Olympic events, or qualifiers.
