LAHORE: The Bangladesh-Pakistan ODI series, scheduled to begin on March 11 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, faces uncertainty due to escalating geopolitical tensions in the region. Pakistan are slated to arrive in Dhaka on March 9, with matches scheduled for March 11, 13, and 15.
The series is significant for both sides, marking Bangladesh’s return to ODI cricket since their home series against the West Indies in October 2025. It also serves as crucial preparation ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup, set to be hosted across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
However, reports from Pakistan’s media suggest the tour may only proceed if the situation does not escalate further, raising travel and security concerns. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has insisted it has not received any official communication from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding a postponement.
BCB cricket operations chairman Nazmul Abedin told reporters: “If this comes to a stage where they can’t travel, then we cannot do anything. But so far we haven’t received any correspondence from PCB in that regard. We are prepared to host the series as per schedule.”
