GUJRANWALA: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Gujranwala has announced a complete OPD strike across the city on Monday.

The decision was made during an emergency meeting of PMA Gujranwala and the Private Hospital Association held at PMA House. Addressing the gathering, PMA President Dr Arifur Rehman stated that, in full compliance with the decision of the Doctors Action Committee Punjab, a complete OPD strike will be observed across Gujranwala. President Private Hospital Association Dr Mian Zahid Mahmood alleged that representatives of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) are harassing hospitals. He clarified that doctors do not evade taxes nor support tax defaulters, but will not tolerate any form of harassment. He warned that if the harassment does not stop immediately, all hospitals will be locked down. PMA General Secretary Dr. Umair Ikram said that the medical community is being forced to take to the streets. He added that doctors in Gujranwala are united “like a lead wall” and will not accept such actions by the FBR under any circumstances.
