LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to ensure the early completion of District Cardiac Cath Lab Project aimed at providing state-of-the-art cardiac care facilities in every district of the province.

Under the CM’s vision, the Cardiac Cath Lab Project has been launched across Punjab to strengthen district-level healthcare and reduce pressure on major hospitals. Following the establishment of a cath lab at the DHQ Hospital Jhelum, facilities in Jhang, Mianwali and Vehari are ready and will be made functional shortly.

In the second phase, cardiac cath labs will be made operational in Bhakkar, Chakwal, Hafizabad, Khanewal, Mandi Bahauddin, Rajanpur and Toba Tek Singh. Each district cardiac cath lab will provide advanced services including angiography, angioplasty and primary PCI. With the availability of these facilities, it will be possible to save the lives of heart patients reaching the hospital within 60 to 90 minutes during cardiac emergencies.

The chief minister has also directed the Health Department to ensure the deployment of specialist doctors, interventional cardiologists and trained staff at District Cardiology Centres. A special pay package has been approved for doctors performing duties at district cardiac cath labs to encourage skilled professionals to serve at the district level.

“All district-level, state-of-the-art cardiac cath labs will provide the best possible treatment for heart diseases in line with international SOPs,” said Maryam, adding that during heart attack emergencies, patients would no longer need to travel to distant major cities, as life-saving treatment would be available at nearby district hospitals.

She noted that the establishment of cardiac cath labs at the district level would significantly improve the healthcare system and reduce overcrowding at large hospitals. “Who could have imagined that DHQ hospitals would be equipped with cath labs offering advanced cardiac treatment?” she said.

Reaffirming her commitment, she said the government would fulfill its promise of providing quality and standard healthcare facilities at the doorstep of every citizen across Punjab.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz has congratulated the Pakistan Navy on the successful live-fire test of the LY-80 air defence missile system, describing it as a major milestone in strengthening the country’s defence capabilities.

In her message, she paid tribute to the Pakistan armed forces, scientists and engineers for the successful test. She said the achievement reflected the professionalism, technical expertise and commitment of all those involved in enhancing national security. “By successfully conducting the air defence missile, Pakistan has achieved another milestone in its defence capabilities,” she said, adding that such advancements were a source of pride for the entire nation and a testament to Pakistan’s growing self-reliance and preparedness in safeguarding its sovereignty.

Maryam Nawaz has expressed gratitude over the unopposed victory of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) candidate Malik Muhammad Shafee in the by-election for Provincial Assembly constituency PP-167. Congratulating the people of PP-167, she thanked them for their trust and support. She said the unopposed success of the PMLN candidate reflected public confidence in the party’s policies and leadership.
