Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration personnel carried out a timely operation at Jinnah International Airport Karachi and foiled an attempt by a passenger to travel abroad using a fake UK e-visa share code, according to an FIA spokesperson.

The passenger, identified as Imran, was travelling to Turkey on flight PC-131. During immigration clearance, he presented a UK e-visa share code, which was later found to be fake.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had used the fake UK share code to obtain a Turkish e-visa. Further inquiry showed that the UK share code had been acquired on the basis of a forged nikahnama (marriage certificate).

Evidence recovered from the suspect included fake and digitally edited photographs showing a staged marriage with a woman identified as Oneza Qureshi.

The suspect disclosed during interrogation that all travel documents and airline tickets were arranged through various agents based in Lahore. He reportedly paid Rs7 million for the preparation of the documents, of which Rs3.5 million had already been paid.

During questioning, Imran also revealed that he has been married to a woman named Samira since 2014 and has four children. The suspect has been handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Karachi, for further legal action, the spokesperson added.
