A fire broke out at a towel factory in FB Industrial Area on Saturday, destroying goods worth millions of rupees.
According to a fire brigade spokesperson, the blaze erupted on the first floor of the factory and quickly spread to a large portion of the building. Due to the intensity of the fire, both finished goods and raw materials stored inside the factory were completely destroyed.
Six fire brigade vehicles, three water bowsers and four water tankers were dispatched to the site. After a prolonged firefighting operation lasting nearly four hours, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.
Fire brigade officials said thick smoke billowed from the building, causing panic in the surrounding area. However, no loss of life or injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately determined, the spokesperson added, noting that cooling operations would continue for another three to four hours to prevent any flare-up. An investigation would be launched to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the total financial losses.
