Sindh Rangers personnel, acting on intelligence-based information, on Saturday arrested four alleged members of the notorious “Rakha dacoit gang” involved in multiple incidents of robbery and street crime in Karachi.

According to a spokesperson for the Sindh Rangers, the arrests were made during operations conducted in the Godhra area and Sector 11-G. The suspects were identified as Kashif alias Rakha, son of Saeed; Ilyas, son of Ayaz; Ameer Hamza, son of Ghulam Mustafa; and Yaseen alias Dada, son of Mehboob Sultan.

The Rangers recovered two .30-bore pistols, two 9mm pistols, four magazines along with ammunition, and cash allegedly used in criminal activities from the suspects’ possession.

The spokesperson said the arrested men were members of an organised gang involved in armed robberies, mobile phone snatching, and drug peddling in various areas, including New Karachi and North Karachi. It was further revealed that suspect Ilyas was a habitual offender and had previously been arrested and jailed in 2024 for possession of illegal weapons.

Raids were underway to arrest other accomplices of the gang. The arrested suspects, along with the recovered weapons and ammunition, were handed over to police for further legal action.

Sindh Rangers also appealed to the public to report information related to crime and smuggling to the nearest Rangers check post, the Rangers helpline 1101, or the Madadgar WhatsApp number, assuring that informants’ identities would be kept confidential.
