PESHAWAR: A total 465,121 Afghan nationals voluntarily returned to homeland while, 51,736 illegally residing people were apprehended and deported to Afghanistan through the Torkham border during 2025, said a report released on Friday.
The figures were given by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration in the document on cross-border movement at the Torkham crossing during the last year.
According to the report, a total of 1,007,530 passengers crossed the Torkham border in 2025.
The report said that 547,727 Afghan and other passengers entered Pakistan via the Torkham border on valid visas and passports, while 459,803 Afghan and other passengers departed Pakistan through the same border using valid travel documents.
The FIA confiscated 40,908 Proof of Registration and Afghan Citizen Cards from Afghan nationals, which were later handed over to the Afghan Commissionerate.
According to the document, 287 persons wanted by law enforcement agencies were taken into custody at the Torkham border during the period. As many as, 277 passengers were offloaded at the Torkham border.
The report said that 1,595 passengers were prevented from entering Pakistan at the Torkham border due to possession of fake or forged documents.
It noted that 36,070 Afghan patients crossed the Torkham border to seek medical treatment at the Pak-Afghan Friendship Hospital.
Upto 109 Pakistani passengers arrived at the Torkham border using emergency passports, the report added.
