KHAR/JAMRUD: Two cops were martyred in separate firing incidents in Bajaur and Khyber tribal districts on Friday.
In the first incident, a cop was martyred in a firing incident by unidentified assailants in Samdasti Kalay in Mamond tehsil in Bajaur. The cop was identified as Rashid, a resident of Katkot.
The attackers managed to flee the scene after the incident. Deputy Superintendent of Police Niaz Khan confirmed the incident and said that investigations had been initiated.
Meanwhile, a policeman was martyred in the Shakas area in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber district.
Sources said that unidentified armed men opened fire on Abdul Qayyum serving in the Special Branch of police that led to his martyrdom. The accused managed to escape after the attack.
A heavy contingent of police reached the spot and took the body into custody. The police registered a case against the unidentified accused.
