Rawalpindi:The Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) Chief Officer Imran Ali has directed to register FIR against private contractors, they were charging extra parking fee from public. The MCR has started crackdown on illegal parking contractors and registered FIR against them.
Public complaints regarding parking fees in Rawalpindi have been taken seriously. It is clarified that the official parking rates have been fixed and notified by the MCR and charging more than the official rates is punishable offense.
Not only departmental action has been taken against the elements charging extra parking fees in different areas of the city, but FIRs have also been registered against the concerned individuals.
The MCR is ensuring that the official rates are prominently displayed at all approved parking sites and strict legal action is taken against those charging excess fees without discrimination. In this regard, the process of special monitoring and checking is being made more effective. Citizens are requested to immediately inform the MCR if excess parking fees is charged anywhere, so that immediate action can be taken.
MCR Chief Officer Imran Ali told ‘The News’ that we have received several complaints against extra parking fee. We have started action against private contractors they were charging extra parking fee from public. We have registered 2 FIRs against private contractors they were charging extra parking fee from public.
