Islamabad:On the directions of Federal Education Secretary Nadeem Mahbub, a comprehensive Professional Development Framework has been prepared.
The framework was presented in a meeting chaired by the secretary and attended by senior officials from the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and the Project Coordination Unit at the Education Ministry.
Officials said the document has been developed by the FDE and PCU teams, as part of the plan to improve quality of education in ICT, after obtaining input from subject specialists and using results of in-house Training Need Assessment.
The FDE director (academics) said that the framework aims to organise and strengthen the Training Wing of the FDE and establish structured professional development programs including induction training and continuous professional development for teachers, lecturers, assistant professors, and school and college leaders.
The timeline for the implementation of the framework was also discussed and the work on the first phase, as outlined in the document, will start immediately. The secretary, while emphasising the importance of capacity building for improving the quality of education, directed to move forward in a structured and a coherent manner.
