Rawalpindi:District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer, said on Monday that despite the entry of more than 23,000 vehicles in the past 36 hours in the hill station enjoy snowfall, the Murree Police and Traffic Police maintained orderly traffic through an effective strategy.
“Protecting lives and property, ensuring smooth traffic flow, and providing full facilities to tourists amid snowfall remain the City Traffic Police’s top priorities,” he added. DPO Raza Tanveer, in a statement, noted that today light snowfall began at around 2:15 pm and continued until 3:45 pm, covering key tourist spots, including Mall Road, Kashmir Point and Barian.
Both the police and district administration teams responded promptly, managing traffic on all major routes, he said, adding check posts remained active, and tourists were guided to safe locations in a timely manner.
He shared that a total of 23,114 vehicles entered Murree in the last 24 hours, while 15,143 exited, leaving 7,971 vehicles within the district. Of these, 12,777 entered the district and 7,242 the city area specifically.
He added that all officers, personnel, traffic wardens and rescue teams remained alert across the district. As a result, no untoward incident was reported, and the overall situation remained fully under control.
