Rawalpindi:Political and social leader Chaudhry Inaam Zafar said on Monday that the Kashmiri people’s internationally recognised right to self-determination remained unimplemented even after more than seven decades, raising serious questions about the credibility of global institutions.
The continued denial of this right called for renewed attention from the United Nations and international human rights organisations, he said, urging them to ensure enforcement of their own resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to history, Chaudhry Inaam Zafar said in a statement that January 5, 1949, marked the adoption of a landmark resolution by the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan, granting the people of Jammu and Kashmir the right to determine their political future through a free and impartial plebiscite.
