Viral video leads to arrest of man for obscene act on University Road

Police have arrested a suspect within 24 hours after a video showing an obscene act by a man inside a car on University Road went viral on social media.

The video was recorded on January 1 by a woman outside Karachi University and later circulated widely online. The footage showed a man performing obscene gestures inside a vehicle, while the woman could be heard demanding his immediate arrest.

Taking strict notice of the viral video, Karachi police chief Azad Khan ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect. Mobina Town police used modern technical methods to trace and arrest the suspect within 24 hours. The suspect was identified as Mohiyuddin Ahmed, a resident of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

Police have registered a case against the suspect under the state’s complaint. Police said obscene and immoral acts at public places would not be tolerated and strict action would continue against violators.

Meanwhile, a video statement of the suspect has also surfaced, in which he is seen apologizing for his actions.
