Rescue 1122 records historic response in 2025

LAHORE:Rescue 1122 responded to 2.5 million emergencies in Punjab during 2025, rescuing over 2.8 million victims, Secretary Emergency Services Dr Rizwan Naseer said.

Road traffic crashes were the leading emergencies, with 493,489 incidents resulting in 248,471 serious injuries and 4,944 on-spot deaths. Other major emergencies included abdominal pain, hypertension, shortness of breath and high fever.

Dr Rizwan highlighted the historic simultaneous flood rescue operation under the Punjab Chief Minister’s leadership, in which over 470,000 people were rescued by 1,500 boats, while 2.6 million people and 2.1 million animals were evacuated to safety.

At the Annual Performance-2025 review meeting, officials reported 28,829 fire incidents, 1,677,867 medical emergencies, 45,992 crime emergencies, 67,409 falls, 65,020 delivery cases, and thousands of other emergencies including occupational injuries, animal rescues, electric shocks, burns, drownings and structural collapses.

The Motorbike Rescue Service handled 1,278,072 emergencies with an average five-minute response time. Air Ambulance Service transferred 190 critically ill patients from remote areas, while the Patient Transfer Service shifted 64,792 patients to advanced hospitals free of cost. Dr Rizwan appreciated operational staff and District Emergency Officers for maintaining high service standards and urged building owners to follow Punjab Community Safety Building Regulations 2022.
