ISLAMABAD: Urging the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to operate within the constitutional framework, Secretary General Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said on Monday that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s recent statement constitutes a clear and sincere political offer to the PTI.

“The PPP has consistently upheld national unity and political stability despite facing severe political pressure and the PPP has always pursued the politics of reconciliation and remains committed to the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto,” he emphasised in a statement.

Bukhari said following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s offer for dialogue, there could be no greater or more sincere proposal for political reconciliation, and it was now for PTI to decide whether it genuinely wished to engage in talks or continue with confrontation.

“Contradictions within the PTI have become increasingly evident,” he said, adding: “While Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi speaks of taking to the streets, others simultaneously seek dialogue under the banner of constitutional protection.”

He said PTI’s past conduct—forming committees only to later withdraw from talks—had contributed to a deep trust deficit.

Bukhari noted that the political instability of the past two-and-a-half years had caused significant damage to the country.

The PPP, he stressed, had never resorted to extremist politics and consistently stood for national integrity and democratic stability, even in the face of severe political pressure.

He said Bilawal had already made it clear that the decision regarding a “long innings” rests with the people.

Emphasising the party’s political philosophy, Bukhari stated that the PPP had always pursued the politics of reconciliation and remains committed to the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

“The PPP’s history reflects a consistent struggle for democratic continuity, stability, and national cohesion,” he added.
