ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch on Friday hosted resident ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps from D-8 member countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to formally introduce Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Secretary General (designate) of the D-8 Organisation.

Ambassador Sohail Mahmood is currently serving as Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and earlier served as Foreign Secretary of Pakistan with distinction.

During the reception, Ambassador Amna Baloch lauded Ambassador Sohail Mahmood’s more than three decades of distinguished service in Pakistan’s Foreign Service (PFS) and extended her best wishes for success in his new assignment as Pakistan’s first Secretary General of the D-8 Organisation. She highlighted his diplomatic experience, leadership qualities and valuable contributions to Pakistan’s foreign policy over the years.

Additional Foreign Secretary and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tahir Hussain Andrabi, along with a number of other senior officials, also attended the event. The participants recalled and appreciated the services rendered by Ambassador Sohail Mahmood during his long association with the ministry and acknowledged his role in strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic engagements at bilateral and multilateral levels.
