Islamabad:Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Kheal Das Kohistani, said that interfaith harmony is the foundation of a society’s progress and stability, adding that Pakistan is a bouquet of diverse religions.
He described the Christmas celebration is an example of religious harmony and said it is our collective responsibility to promote respect and brotherhood in the hearts of every citizen, says a press release.
He noted that Christmas reminds us that the values of love and compassion are not confined to any one religion or sect. He expressed these views while addressing a special Christmas ceremony hosted by the Bakhtawari family in Islamabad, where Christmas cakes were also cut.
The event was attended by Sri Lankan High Commissioner Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne, Chairman Pakistan Cultural Forum Zafar Bakhtawari, General Secretary Labour Union Chaudhry Yaseen, Patron-in-Chief Azerbaijan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce Ahsan Bakhtawari, High Commissioner of Zimbabwe Titus M. J. Abu Basutu, Deputy Head of Mission of Indonesia Rehmat Hindrauta, Deputy Head of Mission of Sri Lanka Christy Rubani, Christian employees of Islamabad Police and Motorway Police, pastors, prominent members of minority communities from various walks of life, the Islamabad business community, and other distinguished guests.
In his address, Kheal Das Kohistani said that no religion permits terrorism. He alleged that India, using the Pahalgam incident as a pretext, targeted religious seminaries, and that minorities stood united with their Muslim brothers to respond firmly to this aggression.
Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari said that, following his father’s footsteps, he remains committed to serving humanity. He stated that the event was organized to pay tribute to Christian employees of Islamabad Police, FIA, and Motorway Police.
Zafar Bakhtawari said that in an era of hatred, such gatherings spread love and harmony. The ceremony concluded with the cutting of Christmas cakes, symbolizing unity, joy, and interfaith harmony.
