ISLAMABAD: Officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Wing foiled an attempt to travel abroad using forged documents during a targeted operation at Islamabad International Airport, a spokesman for FIA Headquarters said.
The interception occurred during routine immigration clearance for Flight PF-784, bound for South Africa. The passenger, identified as Abrar Ahmed, a resident of Jhelum, was attempting to board the flight under the guise of traveling for employment.
Alert immigration officers flagged Ahmed’s travel documents noticing irregularities upon closer inspection and verification.
A fake South African work visa was found affixed to his passport.
The documents failed to meet the security standards required for international travel.
Following the discovery, the passenger was immediately off-loaded and taken into custody. To ensure a thorough investigation into the source of the forged documents, Ahmed has been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Islamabad.
Authorities are expected to initiate formal legal proceedings to identify any wider human smuggling networks associated with this case, FIA spokesman concluded.
