GHQ attack case against Imran, Qureshi adjourned till Jan 6 without any proceedings

RAWALPINDI: The special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi adjourned the hearing of the GHQ attack case against former PTI chairman and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other accused until January 6 without taking any action.

On Monday, the former chairman’s lawyer Faisal Malik and Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah appeared in the court during the hearing. Other accused named in the case were also present. Former chairman’s lawyer Muhammad Faisal Malik requested the court to allow him to meet former chairman in Adiala Jail as he had to take a legal opinion regarding the cases. However, the court adjourned the hearing of the case without taking any action and allowed the accused to leave after their appearance. In the May-9 case, registered at RA Bazaar police station, apart from the former chairman and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, 120 accused including Shibli Faraz, Omar Ayub, Raja Basharat and other leaders and workers had been named.

So far, statements of 45 prosecution witnesses have been recorded in this case, while on Monday, the former chairman was seen in Adiala Jail through a video link. He was to be presented in the court.
