23 declared successful in PBC elections

ISLAMABAD: The names of 23 members declared successful in the recent Pakistan Bar Council elections have been announced; however, the official and final notification of their success will be issued on December 22.

According to credible sources, the counting of votes was conducted on Wednesday at the Pakistan Bar Council in Islamabad under the supervision of the Attorney General, Barrister Mansoor Usman Awan, who, by virtue of his office, is the chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council and also served as the returning officer for the election process.

Following the vote count, the successful candidates on Punjab’s 11 seats are Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahsan Bhoon, Tahir Nasrullah Waraich, Hafeez-ur-Rehman Chaudhry, Syed Qalb Hassan, Saqib Akram Gondal, Ahmed Saeed, Shafqat Mahmood Chauhan, Maqsood Gujjar, Salman Akram Raja, and Pir Masood Chishti.

On Sindh’s six seats, the successful candidates are Saleem Mangrio, Salahuddin Ahmed, Ubaidullah Mirano, Farooq H Naek, Muneer Ahmed Malik, and Abid S Zuberi.

On the four seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the successful candidates are Naveed Ahmed Khan, Abdul Sattar Khan, Rehmatullah, and Qazi Arshad.

On Balochistan’s sole seat, Muneer Ahmed Khan Kakar was declared successful, while on Islamabad’s sole seat, Rizwan Abbasi was declared successful.

It is worth-recalling that the term of the current Pakistan Bar Council body will continue until December 31, after which the new body will elect the vice chairman, the chairman of the Executive Committee, and the heads of other committees.

Until the election of the new vice chairman, the current Vice Chairman, Tahir Nasrullah Waraich, will continue to perform his duties.
