Three held for Kohat mosque attack

KOHAT: The police claimed to have arrested the accused involved in the hand-grenade attack and firing incident at a mosque in Kohat.

Talking to reporters, District Police Officer (DPO) Shehbaz Illahi said that on November 30, Cantonment Police Station received information that unidentified accused had thrown a hand-grenade at the Abdullah bin Fahd Mosque in Nusratkhel and opened fire at the house of a resident.

The police, he said, rushed to the spot and registered a case on the complaint of the affected house owner, Mir.Taking notice of the incident, the DPO issued orders for the immediate arrest of the accused and formed a special investigation team comprising Deputy Superintendent of Police City Circle, Ijaz Ali, Station House Officer (SHO) Cantonment Police Station Khizar Farid and SHO City Police Station Jabar Khan.

During the investigation, the police team using modern investigation techniques, data analysis and ground intelligence, worked and successfully traced the accused.The police later raided various places and arrested three accused namely Latif, Umar and Abdul Muaz, all residents of Nusratkhel.The police recovered weapons used in the crime from their possession, while further investigation was underway.
