Rawalpindi:Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) marked a significant milestone as it hosted its 15th convocation here at the Latif Auditorium at the RMU main campus to celebrate the achievements of the 44th, 45th, and 46th MBBS batches, along with graduates of postgraduate programs, including MS, MD, M.Phil., diploma, and certificate courses. Over 1000 MBBS and postgraduate students received degrees at RMU ceremony.
The event drew a vibrant audience of proud families, faculty members, alumni, senior clinicians, and invited guests, all gathered to honour the accomplishments of the outgoing graduates. The convocation was graced by the Honourable Pro-Chancellor and Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education, Punjab, Khawaja Salman Rafique, as Chief Guest. His participation, along with the presence of the Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, Punjab, and the former Principals of Rawalpindi Medical College – Professor Dr. Muhammad Mussadiq Khan and Professor Dr. Jahangir Sarwar Khan – added distinction to the event.
In his address, Vice Chancellor RMU Professor Dr. Muhammad Umar congratulated the graduating students and highlighted RMU’s remarkable journey since its establishment in 1974. He recalled the institution’s humble beginning and praised its evolution into a leading center of medical education, research, and clinical service in Pakistan. He outlined major milestones including the implementation of Punjab’s first fully Integrated Modular Curriculum aligned with World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) standards, RMU’s exceptional HEC score of 98.32, and its consistent ranking as Pakistan’s top public-sector medical university in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings since 2021.
Following the VC’s address, the Chief Guest, Pro-Chancellor Khawaja Salman Rafique, delivered an extensive and inspiring speech, warmly congratulating the graduates and their families. He said that the journey of a doctor begins long before receiving the degree and continues throughout life, as medicine is rooted in service.
