LAHORE:On the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, an agreement has been finalised between the Punjab Information Department and the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) for Journalist Colony Phase-II.

Secretary Information Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani and Brig (retd) Mansoor Ahmed Janjua signed the agreement. RUDA CEO Imran Ameen; Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari; Senior Vice President Afzal Talib; Deputy Managing Director Adnan Arshad; Adnan Rasheed; Director Public Relations Abid Latif Sandhu and other RUDA officers were present on the occasion. Under the agreement, RUDA will provide developed plots to journalists within three to five years. An initial deposit of Rs62,500 will be paid into the Punjab Journalists Housing Foundation. Speaking on the occasion, the secretary information said under the CM’s vision, every journalist will be provided housing and practical work has begun. The LPC president thanked the CM and Information Minister, saying that the Punjab government has taken concrete steps to provide housing to journalists and that monthly instalments will be kept reasonable keeping in view low salaries and unemployment.
