LAHORE:The Punjab Government has officially approved the transformation of the Suthra Punjab Programme into the Suthra Punjab Authority here on Thursday. Following this significant development, Babar Sahib Din, Chief Executive Officer Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), has been appointed as the Director General of the Suthra Punjab Authority (SPA). A formal notification regarding the appointment has also been issued. Babar Sahib Din has been entrusted with the responsibility for cleanliness across the Punjabprovince, along with additional charge of the Suthra Punjab Agency in Lahore. He was serving as CEO of LWMC for the past two years and 10 months, playing a key role in improving the waste management system in the city of Lahore. Under the special directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, Babar Sahib Din has played a central and pivotal role in the successful launch and implementation of the Suthra Punjab Programme across the province. During 2025, he represented the programme extensively at various national and international forums, where the model and achievements of the programme received widespread recognition. This decision was being hailed as a major milestone for improving cleanliness, environmental standards, and the promotion of modern waste management practices across Punjab.
