SHIRAZ: Federal Minister for Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, along with leading Pakistani filmmakers, represented Pakistan at the 43rd Fajr Film Festival held in the historic city of Shiraz, Iran.

Khichi was invited as a special guest to participate in the festival. In his keynote address, the minister emphasized the importance of joint film productions between the two countries. Pakistan and Iran, he noted, are close neighbours that share deep social, cultural, religious, and brotherly ties. Cinema, he added, is a powerful medium for promoting cultural values and fostering mutual understanding.

He said that screening Iranian films in Pakistani cinemas and Pakistani films in Iranian cinemas would help bring the people of both nations even closer.

For the first time, three Pakistani movies—Actor in Law, Umro Ayyar: A New Beginning, and Taxali Gate—were screened at the festival. The minister enthusiastically participated in various events and visited the Pakistan Pavilion, where he met the Chairman of the Cinematic Foundation of Iran. He invited him to visit Pakistan and engage with stakeholders of the local film industry.
